SawStop Table Saw Accessories

This is a quick overview of some of the accessories you’d want if you just bought a new SawStop table saw (check out my PCS saw, click here), or are planning on buying one. If you want to use a dado blade, there are a few pieces you will need to buy. I also upgraded from the saw blade which comes with the saw.

 

First the dado blade, I just had an old wobble blade on my old table saw. I don’t think those work on this saw because of the safety feature. I used the reviews on Amazon to find the DeWalt DW7670 8 inch 24 tooth stacked Dado Set which currently has a rating of 4.7 stars. I’ve used this dado a few times, and it is working great. It comes with a nice case too.

To use a dado blade, you must get an 8″ dado blade. Also, your saw most likely does not come with a Dado Brake Cartridge, you will need to purchase this separately. The cartridges are easy to change. When you do, make sure and check the blade clearance with the yellow plastic tool from SawStop (follow their directions). You will also need a dado insert, also, not likely to come with your saw. If you have a SawStop jobsite saw, this is a different dado insert you will need. Make sure and double check you are getting the right parts for your saw. If you have an older SawStop saw, you may need to buy your safety cartridges directly from SawStop, the early models had more pins in the connector than the new ones do.

The saw comes with a good blade, but I went ahead and upgraded to the SawStop BTS-R-40ATB 40-Tooth Titanium Series Premium Woodworking Blade, 10-Inch with 5/8-Inch Arbor. I also got the SawStop BTS-P-80HATB 80-Tooth Titanium Series Premium Woodworking Blade, 10-Inch with 5/8-Inch Arbor blade for plywood, mdf, or melamine. There are other very good blades out there, such as the 4.7 star rated Forrest WW10407125 Woodworker II 10-Inch 40 Tooth ATB .125 Kerf Saw Blade with 5/8-Inch Arbor you can buy from Amazon.

I also went ahead an bought one more insert, so I’d have a zero clearance insert for 45 degree cuts with a standard 10″ saw blade.
